Position Summary We're looking for a skilled and curious Full Stack Developer to help us build, improve, and maintain the web applications and services that power our growing business. This role is hands-on; you'll design, develop, test, deploy, and support software solutions that directly impact how we serve schools and businesses across the country. You'll work closely with the CEO and cross-functional team members to deliver scalable, high-quality tools that align with where we're headed. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who writes clean code, thinks critically, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and embraces AI-assisted development as a way to work smarter. Key Responsibilities Application Development Design, develop, and enhance scalable front-end and back-end features using modern JavaScript frameworks and best practices Build, maintain, and evolve RESTful APIs and supporting application services to ensure reliability and performance Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code that adheres to established engineering standards Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests to support long-term stability and quality Collaboration & Code Quality Participate actively in peer code reviews and technical design discussions, contributing thoughtful feedback and continuous improvement Create and maintain clear technical documentation for systems, services, and APIs Collaborate closely with team members and stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with business objectives Provide informal mentorship and knowledge sharing to junior developers as appropriate Operations & Production Support Monitor application health through log analysis and observability tools, proactively identifying and troubleshooting issues Support production environments by diagnosing incidents, resolving service disruptions, and implementing preventative improvements Optimize PostgreSQL queries and contribute to performance tuning initiatives to enhance system efficiency and scalability Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes AI-Assisted Development Leverage AI-assisted development tools to support code implementation, refactoring, automated test generation, debugging, and documentation drafting Critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy, security, maintainability, and alignment with engineering standards Integrate AI-assisted workflows responsibly within established development practices and governance frameworks Growth & Continuous Improvement Continuously expand technical expertise by staying current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices Help build, refine, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for development workflows to support the growth and scalability of the team Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Skills Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Node.js for building scalable, high-performance backend services Strong proficiency in React.js for developing responsive, maintainable front-end applications Deep understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+) and contemporary web standards, including HTML5 and CSS3 Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including designing schemas and writing optimized, efficient queries Practical experience implementing automated testing using frameworks such as Jest or Mocha Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and integration best practices Proficient in Git-based version control workflows, including branching, merging, and collaborative development practices DevOps & Systems Working knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker preferred), CI/CD pipelines, and foundational cloud infrastructure concepts Ability to analyze application logs, trace system-level issues, and support production troubleshooting Foundational understanding of performance monitoring and optimization techniques AI-Assisted Development Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools to enhance software development workflows Ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated code and documentation Understanding of responsible AI usage within production environments, including security, quality, and governance considerations Core Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Highly organized with strong attention to detail Independent and self-motivated Strong prioritization skills with an ability to meet deadlines Able to function well in a fast-paced and at times demanding environment Proficiency in Google Workspace or similar business tools with the ability to learn new or updated software Education & Experience Minimum 3-5 years of relevant development experience required Bachelor's degree or equivalent What's on Offer Paid & Unpaid Time Off + U.S. federal holidays Competitive bonus linked to company growth Annual Learning & Development stipend and access to certification courses A vibrant, inclusive, people-first culture where you're encouraged to be curious, set the standard, and thrive together Equal Opportunity Statement Gophermods is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
